We have ducklings!

October 31, 2017

We got the biggest surprise in our bush paddock garden recently. I went outside to do a bird count for the latest Aussie BirdCount and ventured down the hill to look at our plants and watch for birds. Imagine my surprise when I saw some ducklings with two adult Australian Wood Ducks. Now, we'd had the Wood Ducks hanging around for a few weeks … [Read more...] about We have ducklings!

Secret Gardens of the Dandenong Ranges

October 28, 2017

I celebrated a milestone birthday on 12th October.  Just co-incidentally, I noticed online a couple months before, that there was going to be a Secret Gardens of the Dandenong Ranges Tour on my birthday! There were 4 other days it was operating too, however for me it was significant that it was on my birthday. I excitedly told my husband and he … [Read more...] about Secret Gardens of the Dandenong Ranges

Australian National Garden Week

October 5, 2017

Thank you for reading my blog. I am both a gardener and garden photographer in the Dandenong Ranges, Victoria, Australia and the more I learn about horticulture the more I'm in love with our Australian native plants.  And this time of year (Spring) is filled with open gardens and garden events - love it. Did you know that Australia celebrates … [Read more...] about Australian National Garden Week

Garden Project Week 12

September 22, 2017

This is the last week of the landscaping work. Today was Day 36. They finished the final toppings on the pathways, topped up the fire-pit area, added the granite stones, and then smoothed off the area that was once a lawn. Can't believe it's done! It's now up to us to finish the work with lots of planting and mulching, and over time … [Read more...] about Garden Project Week 12

Garden Project Week 9

September 15, 2017

Week 9 of the work covers days 29-33 which is from 28 August to 1st September.  Can't believe they managed to get a week of work done!  Mind you it was quite cold and one of the guys was in shorts - better him than me. Quite a few things were achieved this week. The boys got the second bench seat finished in the fire pit area. They redid some of … [Read more...] about Garden Project Week 9

Paddock Project – Watching the rain

September 15, 2017

We feel blessed that we both get to work at home. I've been running a Virtual Assistant business for 23 years and my husband works in IT and was allowed to start working at home just over 12 months ago. So it means we've both been able to see the daily progress of our new bush garden when taking afternoon breaks for work and going for walks around … [Read more...] about Paddock Project – Watching the rain

Garden Project Weeks 10 & 11

September 8, 2017

This covers week 10, 5th September and week 11, 11th September. Because of the rain the guys have only been able to pop in now and then doing one full day and one half day. They literally have about one day's worth of work to do and then it's completely up to us to get mulching and planting. Anyone want to come and pitch in? ;-) More tuscan … [Read more...] about Garden Project Weeks 10 & 11
