Health and Healing Through Photography

December 15, 2019

I found myself sharing this story with a couple of other photographers a little while back and the more I think on it, the more I feel I should share it here too. I've always enjoyed photography, as a child I had my first camera at the age of 14. Purely black & white photos - couldn't afford coloured film back then. And my images had a lot … [Read more...] about Health and Healing Through Photography

Chocolate Lilies in the Paddock

November 24, 2019

Three years ago we got rid of the pet sheep we had in our 3/4 acre paddock, with the vision of turning it into a garden. Two years ago we had it landscaped - it looked so different with lots of new garden beds, surrounded by pathways, and two creek beds and a billabong. We also then joined the council's Gardens for Wildlife Program. Over the … [Read more...] about Chocolate Lilies in the Paddock

Open Garden in Monbulk

November 21, 2019

For probably the third year in a row, my husband and I visited a delightful garden called The Nook over the weekend as it was open for display. Love this garden. It's a full on cottage garden and obviously a lot of hours and love put into it. The owner, Val, originally built this garden with her husband many years ago, but he has passed and she … [Read more...] about Open Garden in Monbulk

Getting More Joy from Your Garden Through Photography

November 17, 2019

A week ago I had the privilege and pleasure to present at the State Rose and Garden Show in Werribee. What an honour that was, to speak on the same stage that also had Jane Edmondson from Gardening Australia, Vasili Kanidiadis of Vasili's Garden on SBS and landscape designers and horticulturalists all talking about gardening, roses, propagation and … [Read more...] about Getting More Joy from Your Garden Through Photography

Planting Day of the Week

November 5, 2019

My husband and I are going to try and set a new routine for our garden. Set aside one day a week specifically for planting and, if possible, the day before any forecast rain. Other days will be for maintenance as weather permits and our other activities. It's so nice that we no longer have to just do the garden on weekends but can now work in it … [Read more...] about Planting Day of the Week

Gardens 4 Wildlife Program

November 4, 2019

If you, like me, want to encourage more birds in your garden, and other wildlife, then looking into the Gardens 4 Wildlife Program is so worthwhile. If there isn't one in your region, perhaps reach out to your local council or shire, to see if they would look at introducing it. I'm involved in the Shire of Yarra Ranges and Victoria has programs … [Read more...] about Gardens 4 Wildlife Program

Visiting George Tindale Gardens

October 26, 2019

Our church group had an outing this week to the George Tindale Memorial Gardens. I'm always up for a garden visit anytime and I'd been told by a friend that it was looking particularly good at the current time. It was a gorgeous spring day, not too hot, not windy and perfect for wandering along the pathways exploring all the plants, flowers and … [Read more...] about Visiting George Tindale Gardens
